Societygal Feature with Promise From GOLIVE HQ

I’m Promise Tangeman-Wurzell. Yup, that's my real name. My mother had a miscarriage before I was born, so, my parents felt that I was a Promise from God when they had me.

As an artistic fashion junky, I grew up loving the arts and expression. Following my love and desire to improve my craft, I attended Northwest College of Art and Design in Poulsbo, Washington where I graduated with a BFA in 2007, double majoring in Graphic Design and Fine Art.

In 2009, I married a dreamy Worship Pastor, Brian Wurzell, and stepped out to start my own business as a graphic and web designer. Following the rapid success and high demand, I assembled a design team in 2012 and we began hosting in-person events to help creative entrepreneurs by the masses to build, design, and launch their website in two days flat.

Currently, my team and I at Go Live Hq organize website building workshops, design and sell website templates, craft custom websites, and ultimately help people launch what they love. We’ve had the privilege of working with the original #Girlboss herself, Sophia Amoruso, of Nasty Gal, Sadie Robertson of Duck Dynasty, TLC star Randy Fenoli of Say Yes to The Dress, Fashion Blogger Danielle Bernstein of We Wore What, Jaclyn Johnson of Create & Cultivate, Elsie Larson of A Beautiful Mess, and many other inspiring small businesses and creative entrepreneurs.

I also co-founded Designer Vaca, which is a collaborative vacation that takes place every year in Palm Springs. We gather together hundreds of female designers of all kinds from around the world to dream, relax, share experiences, and learn from each other. This intimate environment has a relaxed anti-conference feel creating space for amazing connections and beautiful relationships to take place.

Over the last few years, I’ve enjoyed encouraging fellow creatives by speaking and sharing my story at the Girlboss Rally, Catalyst Conference, Yellow Conference, Create & Cultivate, Circles Conference, Alt Summit, Identity Conference, Creative Live, and many more.

Tell us about yourself and what you do?

I'm a graphic designer, certified digital marketing strategist, style curator, and owner of the webdesign firm, Go Live Hq. My passion is helping creative girlbosses KILL IT online in a simple, stylish and strategic way.

What do you like most about Societygal?

I love collaboration over competition. So naturally, I love the education, empowerment and community that Societygal creates!

Who do you look up to and why?

My husband, Brian. Hands down. It’s inspiring to be married to someone I wish I could be like. He’s endlessly positive. He never turns down an opportunity to get to know someone new. He’s extremely fascinated by people and loves everyone. (This also sounds like the description of my dog! LOL. What can I say, I’m surrounded by inspiring creatures).

What advice do you have for our readers?

Don't wait for everything to be just perfect before starting, launching, creating, trying, making, dreaming, etc. I battle perfectionism and I’ve wasted so much time and many great ideas because the circumstances weren’t just right. Now I believe that everything is a work in progress. So, just make progress.

What new things are you up to?

I am in the middle of hiring more team members and assembling a local team. We've previously been located all over the country, so I'm excited to collaborate in person and catch some more momentum and synergy in the office. We also have *new* Squarespace website templates releasing soon. We've created custom squarespace designs that are unique and completely different than Squarespace's standard templates so you can stand out from the crowd with a brand that attracts your ideal customers and clients. You can check those out here: http:golivehq.co/shop

What books are you reading?

I am currently reading Don't Make Me Think, by Steve Krug. It's web design book about optimizing your website to make it as EASY on the potential client or customer as possible, so they don't have to think when browsing your website. Your website should easy their frustration and offer solutions to their problems not create more frustration....Okay sorry thats geeky. I also LOVE the book Creative Confidence by Tim Kelley and David Kelly.

When did you launch your business?

I launched a version of my business in 2009, but since then it has been refined and rebranded into what it is today.

What are your offerings in your business?

My company Golivehq.co and I do web design for creative entrepreneurs (mostly females). We all LOVE helping people launch what they love. Ultimately watching people's lives change because they were able to quit their 9-5, or they we're able to triple their business as the result of a new website is what gets me up in the morning. NOTHING gets old about that.

How do you manage a work / life balance? Do you set any specific boundaries?

It's a constant challenge to not get carried away with work. Typically I try not to do any work from my bedroom, I want that to be a place of rest and relaxation. Instead I have an office in my home that I go to. I also have a standing crossfit appointment at 6pm with my husband. Having somewhere to be at 6pm helps me shut work down at an appropriate time. All in all the work/life balance is a daily struggle, but i just take it one day at a time.
