5 Tips for Hassle-Free Holiday Travel
Are you flying home for the holidays? We know traveling around this time of year can be stressful with airports full of people, lines out the door, and abundant delays. We want to take as much stress out of traveling for you as we can, so we're sharing our five go-to tricks for hassle-free travel.
1. GO EARLY
You're a pro at navigating airports, you show up an hour before your flight, breeze through security and still have time to grab coffee before checking in at the gate. Sound familiar? Unfortunately, this strategy is obsolete during the holidays.
Get to the airport at least 2 hours in advance of your flight (3 hours if flying internationally) so that if the line is never-ending, you're not frantically checking your watch or forgetting your cell phone in the bin as you rush off to the terminal. Giving yourself a margin is the key to not fretting.
2. THREE BIN THEORY
Full disclosure: we borrowed this savvy little strategy from our friends at Who What Wear because it's genius. It truly works wonders and we think it's something everyone should know! Here's the trick:
- Bin 1: Shoes + Jacket
- Bin 2: Laptop Only
- Bin 3: Purse + Small Carry-On
Don’t be intimidated by using the extra bins, it helps you stay organized and gives you less trouble getting through security.
3. BRING A BOOK
If you played your cards right, chances are you're at the gate with some time to spare. Now is the perfect time to dive into that book you've been meaning to read. Since you spend 99% of your time being a boss, choose a book that replenishes you and your spirit.
Need a suggestion? We have plenty. Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert. You Are a Badass by Jen Sincero. Daring Greatly by Brené Brown. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson. The Alchemist by Paolo Coelho. The Power of Meaning by Emily Esfahani Smith. The Desire Map by Danielle LaPorte.
4. MELATONIN GUMMIES
Long bus ride or taking the train? If it’s been awhile since you’ve seen family and friends, you definitely don’t want exhaustion to get the best of you. Melatonin gummies are a huge help to getting some sleep! Just pop one or two of these guys in and you’ll be guaranteed for some shut eye!
Warning: In order to sleep like a baby, stick to the recommended dosage (no more than 5 mg). Taking more than needed can actually mess with your body's rhythm and have adverse effects on falling asleep. In other words, just because they are gummies don't get carried away!
5. OOO EMAIL
Last but not least, don’t forget your out of office email. Let your clients know the essentials: that you’re out of town, who to contact if an important need arises, and when you'll be back in the office. If you want to spice up your email with a cheeky GIF to brighten their day, go for it!
Radio silence can lead to frustration, loss of business, or a missed opportunity. With an OOO email in place, they know you’ll be getting back to them as soon as possible. Communication is key, so don't leave them hanging!
With that — you'll be ready to make the most of your travels in the most chill, enjoyable way possible, paving the way for what we hope will be a no-stress holiday.
Enjoy the season, loves!
